Getting the Look: a dynamic Bantry Bay Home

Getting the Look is a new series we’re introducing – looking back at some of our favourite past projects and outlining some of the ways you can recreate the look, using the same, or similar pieces, with advice on key pieces and stylistic approach.

When it came to designing her own home a few years ago, the La Grange Interiors founder Sumari Krige took the same approach she always does when creating spaces: carefully addressing the homeowners needs (in this case, her own family) through an eclectic, always considered composition of texture, tone and individuality, to create a space that’s comfortable, timeless and welcoming.

This Bantry Bay home by La Grange Interiors is a masterclass in relaxed luxury – where contemporary design meets artisanal warmth in a layered, highly personal way. Defined by a mix of artisanal pieces, natural materials, and curated contrasts, the home pairs refined furniture and finishes with tactile, timeworn accents. To recreate this look, think less about matching and more about balancing – smooth with raw, structured with organic, and neutral tones with moments of depth. Below, we break down how to bring this signature style into your own home, in a few key spaces.

Dreamy bedroom: natural tones and casual furniture

This sun-filled, open-plan bedroom combines fitted and loose furnishings for an elegant and yet modern space, that can be updated and adapted, while always taking advantage of the views. A calming neutral base lays the foundation for a space that’s soothing and conducive to rest.

Subtle colour and pattern accents add interest without overwhelming the serenity of the space. Natural materials, too, give the room a sense of understated luxury.

Key pieces to recreate this look:

A chaise longue to enjoy the view

A striking side table in grounding black

All-season throws and accent cushions

Eat-in kitchen: warm woods & tactile materials

The eat-in kitchen is where the brand’s signature dedication to texture truly comes to life. Here, in a room one wouldn’t usually associate with textiles, Sumari has created a warm and welcoming space by layering timber, stone, textiles and terracotta, creating a tactile, inviting space that feels both functional and elevated.

The secret lies in material honesty – letting each surface stand alone, while ensuring they speak to one another. Balance here is key – glossy cabinetry meets textured upholstery, cool concrete warmed by tones of timber. The finishing touch – artisanal tableware and decorative objects that bring the space to life.

Key pieces to recreate this look:

A solid wood dining table with visible grain

Sculptural dining chairs

A variety of decorative pieces and objects in earthy finishes

Living room: comfort meets refinement

The lounge embodies effortless sophistication – comfortable, inviting, yet undeniably curated. This is where layering becomes essential, combining contemporary silhouettes with vintage or globally sourced accents.

Build the space gradually. Start with anchor pieces (sofa and rug), then layer in collected items—ceramics, books, and objects with a sense of story. The goal is a space that feels curated over time, not styled in a single moment.

Key pieces to recreate the look:

A curvaceous, neutral-toned sofa

A sleek coffee table

Sculptural décor objects

Outdoor area: relaxed coastal living

With its Atlantic outlook, the outdoor seating area reflects a seamless indoor-outdoor flow – relaxed and well thought-through. Natural materials dominate, echoing the surrounding landscape and reinforcing the home’s connection to place.

Keep the palette contained —sun-bleached neutrals, woods, with an accent colour for interest. The emphasis should be on comfort and durability. Layer cushions and throws for comfort and changes in the weather.

Key pieces to recreate the look:

Cleverly designed, multifunctional outdoor furniture

Low coffee table in durable materials

A hardy bar table for sunset drinks

bringing it all together

At its core, this Bantry Bay project is about intentional contrast and curated individuality. Rather than chasing trends, it celebrates craftsmanship, texture, and the beauty of imperfection. The result is a home that feels both sophisticated and deeply lived-in—an effortless balance that defines the enduring appeal of La Grange Interiors.
